“Elephant Hug” was inspired by a photo I took at the Louisville Zoo. Zoo animals are good subjects to paint and always surprise you with their antics. I took this photo several years ago when I went there with my daughter, Sara and her service dog, Mac. The animals loved Mac and were entertained by him, walking with him along the fences, gathering close to him in groups when we stopped. I guess people are boring after awhile, but another animal outside the fence was a thrill. I was happy to see no animals were afraid of him nor became aggressive or upset. It was a memorable day.
