Provost Dungeon is located in Charleston, SC ~ a favorite vacation spot for my family. The Dungeon was a strategically useful building–both in the War of Independence and the Civil War. If you are ever in Charleston and enjoy history, you don’t want to miss this tour–especially down in the dungeon where not only prisoners were housed but ammunition was hidden right under the noses of the British during British occupation. Charleston is a walking city–filled with wonderful history and painting possibilities. I was walking up the alley beside the Dungeon and captured a photo which became my reference photo for this painting. This painting started out as a demonstration in one of my watercolor classes.
This painting will be on display at the Middletown Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, Sept. 7- Dec-7, 2010.
